Good & Evil

Contrast can be a tough thing to figure and work with. There are many lighting tricks that one can perform while shooting. However when working with black backgrounds it can be a tough haul to get clarity on your shots.

In this shot there is the softer lighted side while the other is a cast shadowed edge.

This shot I did with intentional shadow casting to the left side in an attempt to highlight the more pronounced right side. As you can see, it can be difficult against the black background.I’m thinking with a little more light to the left it would have increased the outline of the face a bit more giving it a more definitive line.

Guess I have something to experiment with now and see if I can’t improve the clarity and contrast against black backgrounds. Learn as we go…that’s the motto..!
